Sweet Things

How each verse leads to you
As if it’s the only way it knows how to flow
So full to the brim with your love and your pain
That I can hardly cry out loud or exhale

You’re an innate part of each word that I say
Not only that, you occupy the silence and space
You overwhelm each thing I do and feel
You complete me, so ruthlessly and rudely

And though all the sweet things in life still arrive
As if ticking by the cosmic clock of opportunity and fate
No longer do they bring your scent wafting through the air
So like things most, I hate the sweet things too

For happiness only exists, to be shared with you
Else it’s meaningless, like all other things I know
Like the rising sun and cherry blossom in east
What is beauty, my love, save what you have with me
