Modern Heer

On the first day, my love gave me a song
With air chimed on woodwind chords
He talked of places faraway, unseen
Most of all, he called me Heer

On the second day, my love gave me a sip
Quenched my thirst yet parched me still
He talked of waves and unbaked pots
Most of all, he called me Sohn

On the third day, my love gave me myths
Of prophecy, curses and lovers split
He talked of mountain tombs in desert deep
Most of all, he called me Sassui

On the last day, my love crafted a tale
Of love, deciet, tragedy and fate
He met my gaze, resplendent yet desolate
Most of all, he called me by my name
